It is so true about starting over even if the last story was published. The very first story I ever wrote was rejected by WW and immediately published in The Star. It was years later before I sold another story. I thought is was going to be so easy and it isn't. But I can't not write.
Nice to know someone who has worked on all sides--writer, editor, and publisher--agrees.
It's so strange how people assume that they can write without practicing. It must be because we all write all the time. But, a lot of us sing all the time too--in the shower, in the car--but that doesn't mean we sing well enough for people to pay us for it! LOL
Kate, thanks so much for sharing this. It's just what I needed. I've stepped away from writing for the last couple years. I've been sure that I'm just fooling myself that I'll ever be any good at it. But like Pat said, I can't not write. So I'm going to try again, even though I suck at it. Thanks again.
