The Lost Valentine by Elizabeth Palmer

from the February 12, 2018 issue

Tagline: Kathryn remembered Daniel from kindergarten, but did he remember her?

Observations: I have to admit I found myself reading on and reading on and wondering if Daniel was going to recognize her or if she was going to have to tell him. When he finally revealed that he knew who she was, the way he did it was adorable (if a teensy bit hard for me to believe.)

I thought that how the characters recognized each other was very clever. She remembered his head shaking gesture. His memory wasn't jogged until he saw her in her signature ponytail.

Woman's World magazine likes stories that tug at your heartstrings, like this one does with that long lost valentine being saved all those years. Stories with old flames in them usually have that built in. Sit down at your computer today and try to write one. Don't worry that this old flame story just appeared in the magazine and they won't want to publish another similar story so soon because it'll be a month or two before a story submitted today will appear.

I haven't seen this story yet. I hope the WW issue wasn't lost in the mail. USPS has been doing so well lately. Betsi Palmer is expert at writing the WW Romances, so I wouldn't want to miss this one.

Always love Betsi's stories! This one was very sweet and although it had a coincidence, I'm pretty sure a LOT of WW Romances do the same! The writing was spot-on.

I also enjoyed this story. I suppose it is possible a guy would keep a heart made for him by a little girl long ago. It is cute.

My WW was late that week, but I finally got it. I loved this story. A guy who is that sentimental as a kid grows into a wonderful hero.

I left a comment and then deleted it because I wanted to edit it slightly, then got interrupted and forgot! What I wanted to say is that I didn't even stop to consider whether or not it was PLAUSIBLE my hero would have saved that Valentine (let's assume it got put into a shoebox of "stuff" and was never thrown away by his mother). I just thought it would be sweet if he DID. And since this isn't the real world, but the more-perfect world of WW, I thought I might be able to get away with it. And I did. :)
