I'm late posting and I completely forgot to put up the poll for the "Stars Aligning" story. Unfortunately, I don't have time to post an analysis this week. I'm on a very tight deadline for a book. Forgive me and come back the first week of June.
Thanks for understanding!

Hello Kate, I am an Australian writer who very much enjoys your blog. Thank you. I recently submitted some stories to Woman's World. Looking forward to reading more of your bloc in the first week of June. Wishing you every success with the book...
I just received my first rejection from Womans World. The story was about a soldier. Any idea if they don't do stories about soldiers?
Diane, thanks so much for visiting my blog. I'm sending that luck back to you for your submissions to Woman's World!
I did not make the deadline, but it was a self-imposed one set by me and my editor. So, my career wasn't damaged. It was more of a "give it your best shot" deadline. However, I did get all the way to the end. It's just not polished enough to submit yet.
Kathy, I'm sorry to hear about your rejection. I can't recall reading any stories about soldiers, but that doesn't mean there haven't been any. Maybe someone else can pipe in--someone with a better memory. I do know the very first story I submitted featured a soldier on active duty as the hero, and it was rejected, but that doesnt' mean they aren't open to military heroes. That just means they didn't like that story.
Since you're unlikely to write another story about a solider, I wouldn't spend too much time figuring out if that was the reason for the rejection. Just write a new story and mark that other one down as water under the bridge. :)
