SOLD!

I was surprised to find an envelope from Woman's World today. I have not submitted a story for a very long time. Since June of 2012! Even more surprising was that it was a contract, not a rejection.

It's a holiday story. My very first holiday story sale to them.

I am walking on air!

That's awesome, Kate, you must be thrilled. Congratulations, I'll bet the competition on holiday themes is really tough. May I ask which holiday?

This was the second time one of my stories "went missing." I hadn't heard back on it. After 6 months, the guidelines state you can re-submit. I always include a cover letter stating that it is a resubmission. I usually look it over again, too, to see if I can make it better.

I submitted it a second time two years ago and just got the acceptance. Johnene told me that they publish several magazines now and that the mail department sometimes makes mistakes. Also, because of the vagaries of the Editor in Chief, she can't forward the holiday stories until closer to the actual holiday, so that is why there could be a huge delay.

It's a Christmas story, and since she stated Issue #52, it looks like it's the last story of the year!

Two years, Kate? TWO YEARS? Will wonders never cease. This publishing business is beyond my comprehension. I wish someone would tell me what actually goes on there.

I think you should make sure you buy a lottery ticket...Mega Millions is way up there right now. You could be on a lucky streak.

Good for you!

Great news, Kate! Yep, two years seems like a long time. Glad the story made it in, though! Looking forward to reading it.
