Love on the Airways

by Veda Boyd Jones from the September 28, 2026 issue

Tagline

When Bonnie settles in for another workday as a radio host, she never expects to run into an old flame--and discover their feelings never faded.

Observations

I don't think it's coincidence that a Dolly Parton song is mentioned in the story so soon after that great lady's passing, may she rest in peace. I wonder if that was the author's choice. Okay, I just checked and Dolly left us in August, so there might have been time for Veda to submit a story with the intention of honoring Dolly and for the publishers to give it a green light. Or, the Parton song could have been edited in. Maybe Veda will chime in in the comments.

I liked this story. I don't remember ever seeing a story about a radio host, so that's fresh. :) I especially liked the play being named "Barnyard Moosical." And describing him as having military bearing. Yes, please!

However, regarding the title, it's easy to see why someone would be confused, but I believe it's air waves not airways.
